Overview

Knotly ("we", "our", "the app") is a mental health and productivity app that helps you turn overwhelming thoughts into clear, actionable tasks. We take your privacy seriously. This policy explains what data we collect, how we use it, and your rights.

What Data We Collect

Data you provide:

• Brain dump text - The text you type or dictate in the Brain Dump screen
• Account information - If you sign in with Apple or Google, we receive your name and email address for authentication purposes
• Tasks and focus sessions - Tasks generated from your brain dumps and focus timer sessions

Data we do NOT collect:

• We do not track your location
• We do not collect device identifiers for advertising
• We do not use third-party advertising or tracking SDKs
• We do not sell or share your personal data with third parties

How Your Data Is Processed

On-device storage: All your tasks, focus sessions, and app preferences are stored locally on your device. Your data stays on your phone.

Cloud sync (optional): If you create an account, your tasks and sessions are synced to our cloud database (hosted on Supabase) so you can access them across devices. Sync is encrypted in transit (HTTPS).

AI processing: When you tap "Begin the Untangling," your brain dump text is sent to our secure server (a Supabase Edge Function) which processes it using AI services to extract actionable tasks. We use Google's Gemini AI (Gemini 2.0 Flash) as the primary provider, with OpenRouter (Arcee Trinity model) as a fallback. Your brain dump text is not stored on our servers or by AI providers after processing. AI-generated tasks are suggestions and should not be considered professional advice.

Payments: Subscriptions are processed entirely by Apple through the App Store. We do not collect or store any payment information.
